Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Planning
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) examines how a proposed project may affect air, water, land, ecology, communities and other environmental receptors. The Environmental Management Plan (EMP) turns that assessment into practical mitigation, monitoring, responsibility and reporting measures. For projects that require environmental clearance, the EIA/EMP work should stay closely connected to the project design and the applicable Terms of Reference.

EIA / EMP and Environmental Clearance are related, but not the same task
The EIA/EMP is the technical assessment and management document. Environmental clearance is the wider regulatory process in which the assessment, application information and other project-specific requirements are considered by the competent authority.
